Biography

I have practiced social work since 1994. I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree (in Speech Sciences) from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 1990 and a Bachelor of Social Work degree from UBC in 1994. I practiced social work for five years in the field of child welfare before returning to UBC to complete my Master of Social Work degree in 2000. Since then, I have specialized in the field of mental health providing individual and group counselling in both hospital and community settings to people experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns. I actively participate in ongoing professional development.

Since 2010, I have been serving as a subject matter expert with the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), based in Culpepper Virginia, USA. I have written test questions for the licensing exams and I participate on the examination committee with social workers from across Canada and the United States. On this committee, I review and approve questions to appear on the social work licensing exams used in the United States and Canada.
